Paul grew up in rural Sonoma County attending local schools then graduating from the Santa Rosa Junior College and from San Francisco State University with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in History. After working for a manufacturing company, Paul worked for his wife’s family wine and vineyard business; Robert Young Vineyards.
EARLY CAREER
Prior to serving in elective office, Paul worked to help the Town of Windsor incorporate and served on the land use advisory committee. Paul also helped start the Windsor Kiwanis club and served as it’s initial secretary for two years.After graduating from College, Paul worked for his wife’s family wine and vineyard business, working in the vineyards and on the computerized accounting system. Later serving on and chairing the family business board helping the business plan strategically and gain success in the wine industry.
Paul was elected Sonoma County Supervisor in 1994 and served four terms as Supervisor and Director of Sonoma County Water Agency. In those years he has been recognized as an experienced leader in the areas of water, transportation, agriculture, business, development, representation, technology and renewable energy. He also served on many local and regional boards gaining experience working on diverse issues with diverse interests. This experience has helped Paul become recognized as an accomplished negotiator on many levels.
RECENT ACTIVITIES
Over the past 10 years, Paul has been working and leading in many arenas. Paul worked for a Hospital to deal with their development and water supply issues. Paul also worked with wine families facilitating their family business board. Paul’s consulting work has provided experience working with the North Coast Integrated regional water management plan and CH2M Hill on a variety of water and wastewater projects. As a business development representative, Paul gained knowledge and experience growing business and developing relationships. Paul’s management and leadership skills have expanded while serving as Executive Director of BAB2E, CalDesal and ACWA. Paul has also served as Interim General Manager of a water and wastewater community services district. Paul has expanded his experience and knowledge as a project manager for economic development projects that help grow economic opportunities and jobs in Cities
